Dog Dayz of Winter Youth Art Show

The artwork boasts the honest simplicity of children’s art, guided by their teachers. A reception held for The annual Dog Dayz of Winter Art Show. The reception was open to the public, the artists and their families on Saturday, February 17. There are some fantastic new ideas this year, so please stop by to see their work! The show will be up through February, in the Art and Culture studio room, in the lower level of the Peter White Public Library. This exhibit is brought to you by the Lake Superior Art Association.

Explorers and Artists: The Group of Seven

It was standing room only for Lynn Buckland-Brown's LSAA presentation this past Tuesday! It was standing room only for Lynn Buckland-Brown's LSAA presentation this past Tuesday. Her topic: Explorers and Artists: The Group of Seven drew community and LSAA members who were interested in learning more about a unique style of wilderness landscape painting developed by a group of Canadian artists in the early part of the last century. Lynn showed an inspiring  documentary that traced the route of these artists through some breathtaking scenery.  See "Painted Land: In Search of the Group of Seven" trailer below!

LSAA would like to thank everyone who donated their Tadych’s Marketplace (Econo) receipts this year.

We received checks that totaled $645.40 to help with our mission. We could not have accomplished this without YOU!  We continue collecting grocery receipts from this year into next year. Tadych’s Marketplace will give 1% of the total register receipts to LSAA (a 501c3-not for profit organization) when turned in twice a year according to their instructions. There is a drop-box at the Deo Gallery, in the Peter White Public Library. You can also mail the receipts to LSAA, PO Box 9, Marquette, MI 49855

LSAA Annual Meeting and Potluck

The Lake Superior Art Association held their annual all members' meeting on Tuesday, September 12th. The general membership voted to accept newly updated bylaws, and approved the slate of new Executive Board members. This year, the meeting was more of a celebration. Incoming President Lynn Buckland-Brown organized a potluck dinner, along with door prizes. Fresh Coast Plein Air Painting Festival Results and Photos

The 6th annual Fresh Coast Plein Air Festival was held on Friday and Saturday, June 23rd and 24th in Marquette, MI. The event attracted the most artists ever with 38 participants! The festival has been part of the “Grand Finale” of the City of Marquette Art Week, a week-long celebration of Marquette's creative community held during the last full week of June.
