Presented by City of Marquette Office of Arts & Culture at Ellwood A. Mattson Lower Harbor Park, Marquette MI
The City of Marquette announces the installation of the ‘Seven Grandfather Teachings’ sculpture by artist Jason Quigno to occur Friday, September 6th.
The sculpture has been commissioned by the City of Marquette Public Art Commission. Quigno, an Anishinaabe contemporary stone sculptor and tribal citizen of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, has carved seven locally quarried boulders to represent each of the Seven Grandfathers and the cultural wisdom they embody.
The unveiling events are presented by the City of Marquette with support from Superior Watershed Partnership, Travel Marquette and the Fresh Coast Light Lab.
