Join artist Elizabeth Gartner Howe at 6:30p.m. on January 17th at the Marquette Arts and Culture Center for a workshop on luminosity in painting. We will discuss getting luminosity in painting. We'll talk about oils and watercolor, but focus on acrylics and glazes vs opaque, the importance of what each can do, and we will experiment with the techniques that Elizabeth demonstrates. The celebration was held on July 29th at Father Marquette Park, which was the site of the first few Art on the Rocks Art Fairs! MATTSON LOWER HARBOR PARK.JPG The 62nd Annual Art on the Rocks was held at Mattson Lower Harbor Park, 200 Lakeshore Blvd, Marquette, MI. In 1959, the Lake Superior Art Association established Art on the Rocks. This art fair was held around the statue of Father Jacques Marquette. The name was derived from the location–on a black rocky hillside. There were 35 artists showing their work near the new Marquette Chamber of Commerce building on South Front Street.
