Art Adventures for Kids: Egyptian Profiles

Saturday January 10 1:00-3:00 at the Peter White Public Library, Studio 1.

Ancient Egypt was one of the world’s oldest and most influential civilizations. Its stylized art and hieroglyphs tell the story of a civilization that lasted for three thousand years. In this Art Adventure for Kids, sponsored by the Lake Superior Art Association, students will learn about Ancient Egyptian art and culture, then use gold or silver scratch art paper and a wooden tool to create an Egyptian style profile drawing of their own.

Scratch art paper is a paper product with a black coating that is scratched away with a tool to reveal a colorful or metallic layer underneath, creating line art. Kids love using it!

The workshop led by Lynn Buckland-Brown is free and open to students ages 8-12. Pre-registration is not required. Saturday January 10 1:00-3:00 at the Peter White Public Library Studio 1.
