Our Strange and Beautiful Land: Photography for Biodiversity

Join ecologist Chris Burnett on a photographic field trip exploring the meadow, orchard, creek, and woodland ecosystems of his Chocolay Township homestead. Get a close look at some familiar and little-known species of these habitats and learn some of the photographic techniques Chris uses to capture their essence.
This presentation, sponsored by the Lake Superior Art Association, will appeal to nature lovers, artists, and photographers of all levels. Come prepared to view some stunning photography and pick up tips for enhancing your camera skills.

Chris is the real deal when it comes to ecosystems. In addition to serving as the Conservation District Forester for Alger and Marquette Counties, Chris has worked with the Upper Peninsula Resource Conservation and Development Council, the Forester Stewardship Council, and the Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy. His photographs have stories to tell about strange and beautiful species, their habitats, and managing land to maintain biodiversity.
